SONRISAS PERU carried on a new-book and used-books recollection process during the months of May and June of 2004 for all the children of the day care centers that we support!

We contacted the directors of four beginners schools of high economic level in Lima (Nido Garabatos, Nido Colors, Nido Beginners and Nido Chiquitines), who opened their doors to complete this project.

SONRISAS PERU set up baskets with the name of the project during two weeks in each of these beginners schools and sent letters to the parents of the children who attend those schools, in order for them to motivate their children to donate a children book. The children responded very wel!! At the end of the project, we recollected 272 children books. Among others, we received books of different subjects, colors, sizes and shapes, for the children to color, and other books in general. In addition, we received toys: huggy bears, crayola, puzzles, cubes, etc.

This project allowed us to implement the library in each of the centers we support, and to be able to make the supported children to come closer to reading habits, making it accessible to their development.

Growing Healthy

SONRISAS PERU received a special donation from Laboratorio FARMO-ANDINA (thanks to the generosity of Mr. Dante Levaggi), as well as donations from other individuals of basic medicines and first aid kits that will help the children to fight against colds, fever, and illnesses and infections of other types. These donations were valued at more US$400.

These donations allowed us to better equip the medical facilities of each center we support. Among the medicines donated were Amoxicil, Ibuprofen, Dicloxac, Paracetamol, Medical Tape, etc.
